Charles Johnson
unknown
Johnson and Freeman were Wellington builders and contractors at the turn of the 20th century.
Henry August Freeman (c.1847 – 1933) appears to have been born in Nelson. He served an apprenticeship with John Scott, and learnt boat building from his father, the shipwright Thomas Graham Freeman. Henry worked as a shipbuilder in Westport, Reefton and Nelson and arrived in Wellington in 1889. In 1897 he formed a partnership with Charles Johnson (or Johnston) “a builder of repute”.
