WCC City Engineer - G.A. Hart
1870
GA Hart (c.1870 - ?) was WCC City Engineer from 1926 to 1936. Prior to his arrival in New Zealand in 1926 he worked as an engineer on the Lancashire and Yorkshire railways, and at a colliery in County Tyrone. He was an assistant civil engineer to the Borough of Salford and an engineer in Birmingham. His final appointment in the UK was as a sewerage engineer for the Leeds City Corporation, Yorkshire, and this led to the claim that he was a “world authority on municipal sanitation and his varied experience should be admirably suited to the rugged conditions of Wellington.” GA Hart retired in 1936 and was succeeded by Kenneth E Luke as City Engineer.
